Club News
- Kiwanis One Day of Service will be held
Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 8:30am to 12:30pm. We'll
be helping the Alliance Parks Department get spruced up for
spring. Please meet at Robertson's Youth Center at
8:30 for assignments and bring work gloves, rakes, hand
tools you think we might need, shovels, and large trash
bags. See you then!
- Twenty-eight students, grades 1-5, at
Northside Elementary School, became members of the first
Kiwanis International K-Kids Club in Alliance, and possibly
in all of northeast Ohio on Tuesday, January 11, 2011.
Alliance Kiwanis President Teri Faudree installed the
student officers, Northside principal Lori Grimaldi
presented membership certificates, and faculty advisor Judie
Ritchie presented membership pins to all of the
students. Kiwanis advisor Kathy Kramer and Alliance
High School Key Club advisor Mike Patterson also assisted
with the charter ceremony. The group already has
several service activities planned for the remainder of the
year, including participating in Kiwanis ONE DAY, on April
2, 2011, along with the Alliance Kiwanis Club, Alliance High
School Key Club, and the Alliance Middle School Builders
Club.
- The Alliance Kiwanis Club took the lead in the establishment of a community-wide food pantry. An article in The Alliance Review describes the project.
- The Alliance Kiwanis Club's Hunger Task Force was recognized in a feature article in Kiwanis International's online magazine in May 2007.
- Our May 30, 2008 Alliance Kiwanis Hunger Task Force Food distribution (sponsored by Copeland Oaks) was the lead story for Akron's Fox News broadcast.
- Joni Bowen of The Alliance Review wrote a wonderful article with a video about our May 2008 Alliance Kiwanis Hunger Task Force Food distribution.
